What is a FTL?

An FTL (full truckload) is a type of trucking in which an entire truckload (usually 53’ long trailer) is reserved for the transportation of the cargo.

Full truckload shipping constitutes directly fill up an entire truck.

Its also a trucking option if you require a faster transit time, because the trucker goes from the pickup to delivery destination without stops along the way.

Advantages of FTL

  • Cost-Effective for Large Shipments: FTL is often more cost-effective than LTL for large shipments, as the cost per unit decreases with the volume of goods being transported. By filling an entire truck or trailer, shippers avoid paying for unused space and benefit from lower per-unit costs.

  • Faster Transit Times: FTL shipments are faster due to the direct route taken without additional stops or transfers. With no other pickups or drop-offs along the way, goods reach their destination more quickly, reducing overall transit time.

  • Reduced Handling and Higher Security: FTL shipments remain in the same truck or container throughout the entire journey, minimizing handling and reducing the risk of damage or loss. This also enhances security, as the freight is rarely unsealed or moved once loaded.

  • Greater Flexibility and Control: FTL offers increased flexibility with pickup appointments and routes, allowing for more efficient logistics. The entire truck is dedicated to the shipment, providing greater control over the process and accommodating special timing requirements or requests.
